Director
Since 2007 I have directed many episodes of Eco Eye - which for many years was Ireland’s only series exploring environmental issues. Produced by Earth Horizon Productions, Duncan Stewart and Marcus Stewart have made hundreds of episodes over two decades in an effort to alert the public about the growing ecological and environmental crisis. It’s been such an important on the ground education for me about what is happening to this country, to the planet. Sometimes it has an impact too. This episode from 2017 features ecologist Anja Murray. Supported by the EPA and broadcast on RTÉ.
Host Anja Murray discovers the amazing variety and ecology of seaweed around Irish coasts, learning about myriad of medicinal and nutritional benefits. Long harvested by local communities along our west coast, Seaweed has now become a valuable resource worldwide and the episode examines what risks there could be from mechanical harvesting and how seaweed can be harvested sustainably.
